The True Agenda

This is to provide my thoughts on this video I've watched.

This kind of thing is a double edged sword. On one hand, I support any comic company that would try to shake up the tired status quo that Mainstream Comics has been guilty of incorporating. And it is eyebrow raising that the ones who complain about any positive change concerning a minority or a female character are white males who are behind the times. Yet on the other hand, when you have Marvel Comic's mandate that involves bullying a consumer to buy the product by saying "If you don't support us then you're [insert prejudicial term here]" The fact that the characters within Marvel Comics have devolved into self-righteous soap box sadie's  doesn't help their case either.

In spite of all of this, the real agenda of this whole thing is that Disney really doesn't care about diversity. All they care is using that term as a means to attract newer audiences to their product. Because that is what mega corporations do. They manipulate the audience into buying their product and this reason is why Disney and the people involved are magnificent bastards in this regard and why they're ahead in the game.

Not to get political but speaking as a minority myself I consider that the best approach in writing a minority or an LGBTQ character is to write them as a character first. Scratch that. Write them as a person outside of their race, gender, or sexual orientation. Not the label the character goes by. And that is the problem with today's society. Care more about the label than the person underneath the label.

I have read novels and Indy comics that showcase diversity in a positive way, which makes me say to myself"This is why I'm for self-published creations". Cause no matter what type of story an author writes it is their creation.

Horror Central: What We Do In The Shadows

What do you get when you cross The Office, Interview With The Vampire, and Shaun of The Dead? You get this movie.

The movie documents a group of three vampires who all live in a flat in New Zealand. And in that documentation we are witnessing the vampire mythos going back to its roots.

Whomever made the movie is pretty knowledgeable on vampire folklore as we see some traditional vampire traits returning. Such as they cannot be invited unless if the owner of the house invites them, the methods of hypnosis are both funny and a little creepy.

The best part about the movie is that they make these guys act like real vampires. They're monsters and are not ashamed of it, yet they come off as surprisingly charming and likable.

A few things of the movie I enjoy the most is how they explain why virgins are targeted. I don't want to spoil the reason because it was too good. I was caught off guard that they brought back a Nosferatu looking vampire and manages to make him both creepy and awesome. Speaking of creepy. The one unnerving scene was the dinner scene. It was like something out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre but with vampires. Underneath all that charm lies a bunch of brutal killers.

Overall I give the movie a B+. It takes the vampire mythos back to its roots while providing a refreshing spin on the tired tragic monster trope that has hammered the vampire genre down. I'd recommend this. Especially if you're in for a good vampire movie marathon.

Oh yeah. It has a romance subplot. But unlike other romance plots in vampire films this one is oddly sweet. And lacks that annoying love triangle.

Young Justice: Revision Tropes

Here are the tropes relating to my version of Young Justice. Enjoy!

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AlternateContinuity
-Of the canon series. As of the first episode the series has completely ventured off script and will be taking its own path.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AdaptationalHeroism
-Superman and, to a certain extent, the Justice League as a whole. They act more close to their pre-reboot comic counterparts than in the canon show. Superman even accepts Connor into the Superman family.
**Red Arrow is less anti-heroic now that Red Arrow and Green Arrow patched things up.
***Lex Luthor: A very loose definition of the term. His alignment falls more of the shades of grey side of things. While his praise of Conner was genuine you can count on the fact that there is an agenda.
Note: For the reasons for the change. I like Lex Luthor but I believe he'd be much better suited as a character who is neither a hero or a villain. He's a man with ambition and will go through any lengths to achieve that ambition.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AdaptationPersonalityChange
-Connor is a little more mellowed and better adjusted thanks to Superman's acceptance

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PatchworkFic
-Outside of YJ, other elements of the DCU are incorporated. Such as Thea of Arrow. And some Smallville crossed with my story, Last Son of Krypton. For instance, instead of Lex arriving on Smallville, it was his sister Tess. So yeah, it was Tess whom Clark 'saw' swimming in the lake. And is friends with Cyborg.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SexyMentor
-It's Wonder Woman, nuff said. Although not even Wally would say that to her face!

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments
-OMG several in episode 2! The main two I happen to like was Bruce's heart to heart with Robin and Oliver making up with Thea. With the two members of Team Arrow: Dinah and Artemis providing emotional support. After the whole mess with the Arrow series this one hit a little close to home. Especially as it is also my way of having Oliver apologize to Thea for not being much of an older brother to her.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AdaptationalBadass
-In Arrow Canon Dr.Jessica Ivo was really nothing but a pass mention from Dr.Ivo. Here she not only plays a role in creating Superboy but also Amazo who singlehandedly destroyed The Team and two members of The Justice League. And this was just one individual!

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ShipTease
-Between Thea and Conner.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FreakyFridayFlip
-Not played for laughs in this scenario.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheWoobie
-Gotta feel bad for Kid Flash. Especially since he got the worst end of Amazo's mind swapping attack.

Horror Central: Gravy

Sup! Today I'm going to talk about a rather...interesting horror comedy called Gravy. The plot involves a group of co-workers at a mexican restaurant ends up being taken hostage by a gang of cannibals. Its that kind of a movie but it's crazy as fuck!

To the newcomers, how I review a horror movie is usually based on a few things: The tone, the characters. the general horror atmosphere, and the killer or killers in general. I'd say spook factor but it wasn't this movie's intention and the director stated as so. I admire a director with that kind of honesty TBH.

In the beginning the movie waste no time in establishing the characters/victims. They're not just co-workers but they're clearly one big family. And the interactions shown that they have eachother's backs. I also like that they have their own distinct personality that sets them apart from one another. If I had to pick a personal favorite among the victims, mine would be the French Chef. Especially how he stick it to one of the killers towards the final act. Yeah it cost him his life but at least he took one of the killers down with him.

Of course the victims weren't perfect. They have their share of flaws but in a manner that is somewhat believable. And not irritating to a point that I wished they'd die.

As far as the killers go. For a group of cannibals, they were pretty entertaining. Through most parts of the movie I was a little disturbed by the fact that I started to like them. Even the female member of the group who reminds me of Meryl from The Walking Dead. A racist prick and doesn't give zero fucks what you think regardless of the fact. Who can go from affible to faux affible at the drop of a hat. Who comes off as a love child of Harley Quinn and Catwoman.

Overall I give the movie an B. Imagine 31 but with a much lower budget. It even has a monster clown. Who ended up being the formidable one of the group. Who is gener savvy as hell. You know how in every movie a protagonist does a badass one liner before they kill the bad guy? The monster clown was smart enough to take advantage of that.

I'd say, give the movie a watch.

My Thoughts On Riverdale: The CW Adaptation Of Archie

Going to be honest. I never had any emotional attachment to the Archie Comics. To me it was Happy Days minus The Fonz. Wow, do I feel old after saying that. But lets face facts. This isn't the first time the comic has taken a radical adaptation change. The first weird one was an animated adaptation called Archie's Weird Mysteries. Think Scooby Doo meets Buffy The Vampire Slayer. With a touch of Twin Peeks. Even in the comics it had Archie crossing over with The Punisher and The Predator....Let that sink in. Hell in some of the recent comics it had the gang battling a zombie apocalypse!!! So my thoughts in regards to the CW adaptation?

There are two directions this series can go. And one of them I hope its where the series will go. Go full on soap opera, even with it's dark tone, it shouldn't be afraid to go crazy. Throw in some possible supernatural elements, maybe even have the gang fight zombies. Go to town, series! Because the comics have done its share of crazy shit too. So don't hold back. Embrace the crazy. Or it can be as frustrating to watch as Arrow.

The bottom line. It should be it's own thing. If there is anything the Archie Comics has going for it is that it gives anyone to take whatever liberties they can out of it. Lets face it the comic lacks a core plot, other than that infamous love triangle, to begin with. You could give the entire cast super powers and it wouldn't hurt it one bit. I think Archie did just that, awhile back.

I'm actually rooting for the series to be a success. Because I want a CW adaptation of Sabrina: The Teenage Witch!
